About Us

Welcome to Coast to Coast Coffeys. We're Don and Liz, a father-daughter duo who will be biking from Ptown, Massachusetts to Seattle, Washington during the summer of 2022 accompanied by Don's wife/Liz's mom, Susan, and our two trusty steeds (black labs) Mickey and Minnie. Follow along to keep up with our progress as we share photos, videos, stories while trying to avoid saddle sores on the ~3,800 mile/6,100 km journey from east coast to west coast.
We are raising money for the Wounded Warrior Project. If you’d like to make a donation, please visit: https://communityfundraising.woundedwarriorproject.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.personalCampaign&participantID=8409

WHY?

Ride from Ptown to Seattle?

First thing first: its awesome.

How many people can say that they've traveled from sea to shining sea by bike? Probably a few, but I bet it's a pretty exclusive group. I remember my dad saying when I was growing up "Liz, one day I'm going to ride my bike across the US" and we all thought "yeah, sure you are dad" *cue eyeroll. But then, he actually did! From March to April 2019 he rode his bike from St. Augustine, Florida to San Diego, California.

While he was planning out his trip in late 2021, I thought to myself "damn, that'd be pretty cool to do. I wish I could join him." and then I think "Why don't I?" With some planning and flexibility with my work, I'm making it happen.

Two: To raise money for a good cause.

DONATE

Why are we raising money for The Wounded Warrior Project with this ride?

We have been blessed in life and want to do something to support the brave men and women who literally commit their lives to the defense of their fellow citizens and country.

Since 1976, I have thought of riding my bicycle across the USA.  After retiring from full-time work a few years ago, I was able to ride across the southern USA in 2019 and I wished later that I had dedicated the effort to a worthy cause.

Now, I have the chance to do a cross country ride again. This time with my daughter riding along and Susan driving a motorhome, and we want to dedicate the effort to The Wounded Warrior Project. This is personal as we have a lot of connections to the military. Our son, Tom, spent years as an Army Ranger. Fortunately, he never got hurt but some of his buddies were not as fortunate. Also, Liz’s husband Larry served 14 years in Venezuelan Marines. In addition to Tom and Larry, we have a nephew serving in the Air Force and our fathers, my mother and several other relatives served in the Armed Forces.
